I think Heidi is right. The"multi-faceted agenda" is a predominantly economic phenomenon. You have to listen to this talk by Stuart Kauffman at least through to the part starting at five minutes to see what he's talking about. The same situational logic plagues capitalism almost everywhere. Some people think it's a creative force, but they are not looking at the consequences of this "creativity".
