People in El Dorado in Venezuela Using Gold Nuggets as Money

In the past four years 217 people have been killed there in gang violence. The population is only about 5000 so the number killed is over 4%.

The idea I had in Bolivia was that families with gold reserves (there are quite a few, I  think) could get together and bury their gold in disused mines behind large concrete blocks. Then they could use a paper and later a computer accounts systems to keep track of balances. I think they already use paper accounts systems but there are occasionally long-running disputes  and things can get very complicated after a century or so, ... ask anyone who works in a British offshore bank.
