President elect Rodrigo Paz is getting a lot of criticism from the left for going straight to the USA to find a way out of the country's economic problems. On the other hand, Evo Morales' administration didn't take any significant steps toward decoupling the economy from the dollar either, they were relying on selling as much of the country's natural resources as they thought they needed, which wasn't nearly enough, because they were unable to develop those resources to the level where the income stream was sustainable.
