Interview with Yasha Levine on his book Surveillance Valley The Secret Military History of the Internet. The book is apparently available free from https://riseup.net/ according to Google. Here's a review by Andrew McConachie. I think think the problem is that Levine doesn't really know much about the technology and his take is from a political angle that ignores the details of how a network can grow at the rate the Internet grew in the nineties. It was a convergence of a lot of things including computer sales and software development. See Alan Kay on Simplicity.

Using Pipewire to Make A Music Synthesizer

Usually you don't notice, but if you play a pure sine tone then you can easily hear the distortion. If you want to play with pipewire from C on Ubuntu 24.04 then it's really easy. The pipewire tutorials and examples can be compiled and run if you just first install the pipewire-0.3-dev package with sudo apt install libpipewire-0.3-dev But the API is sooo far away from pluggable, typed streams that I find it quite depressing.
