On The State of the World
People like Richard Murphy and Chris Hedges who think they know the state of the world by listening to the BBC and watching YouTube are misguided. That's not the state of the world, that's a mechanism for creating consensus about the state of the world, and it is a damaging one. There are much better ways to create consensus but people are so busy worrying about the state of the world they don't have any cognitive capacity to think about alternatives. It's a self-sustaining storm of nonsense. The sad fact is that we are collectively incapable of doing anything that does not generate a financial profit for someone. I spent almost two years in Britain and nobody wanted to talk to me me about this. A nation of castle-dwelling shop-keepers.
