David Harvey - The Story of Capital

5:14 This made me think a little about the idea of "Surplus value", especially how it applies to bullshit industries like cybersecurity. These are bullshit because they came about when people realised that a problem, that of the software, particularly Microsoft Windows, being garbage, meant that there was an opportunity to make money by selling "tools" to help people deal with the consequences of the bad software they were being forced to use. I don't think Marx's theory apies unmodified to modern economics after businesses became divorced from the material and energetic substance and became information processing.
