I got some replies to my question:

Why can nobody do anything about it though? The US is bankrupt, it is only the "belief" in the value of its currency that gives it or its military any power at all. That belief is no more well founded than the belief tbat Donald Trump is the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The consensus seems to be "because they have nuclear weapons and they're bloodthirsty and mad enough to use them".

My reply:

Thanks for the replies. So it seems the answer is that it's too late now to do anything because they used their credit facility to build nuclear weapons, and now it's permanent and indefinite?

Using Pipewire to Make A Music Synthesizer

Usually you don't notice, but if you play a pure sine tone then you can easily hear the distortion. If you want to play with pipewire from C on Ubuntu 24.04 then it's really easy. The pipewire tutorials and examples can be compiled and run if you just first install the pipewire-0.3-dev package with sudo apt install libpipewire-0.3-dev But the API is sooo far away from pluggable, typed streams that I find it quite depressing.
