Toby on YouTube's AI Curation of Content Providers
It's a bit depressing!
My comment:
5:37 There are actually a few theorems in his "biography" The Life and Letters of Lewis Carroll. Not so bizarre, though I couldn't immediately prove them so maybe they are? Also if you include some of his other books like Sylvie & Bruno and A Mathematical Tale, I think you could make a video.
This is quite an interesting glimpse into how "the algorithm" "works" (it definitely doesn't!) I wish the people who work there (all ten of them that aren't sub-contractors in India) took their responsibility a bit more seriously.
And another:
10:55 I think they have a serious problem which is the enormous amount of disk/memory space needed to store all the uploads. They only make money from views, so it stands to reason they would prefer people to make videos that are viewed than ones that just sit there and only get a few incomplete views per year. I am really surprised they don't have quotas to discourage people from uploading large amounts of unviewed content. There was (is?) a video about the enormous amount of extra storage space needed by YouTube every day. It consisted of AI generated clips and an AI generated voice. It's really depressing to think about this. Keynesian economic theory has a lot to answer for. The USA is a f_ing horrible place!
