Amy Sandoval - For the love of synth

Well, I got bored of learning to use git, ... so I listenened to her interview with John Chowning again, and discovered csound IDE:  https://ide.csound.com/  and one little applet in particular: Steven Yi's Realtime Audio Processing Example . This is just a little feedback loop and a reverb mixer with a 2 second delay, and it has some amazing effects. The weird thing was that it started mixing the sound from her interview and what Chowning was saying suddenly started taking on more significance: See her interview here:  Amy Sandoval Interview With John Chowning : See also  Colleen Fazio - Traynor YBA3 Custom Special  and note the aside about microphonics in the valve amplifier. That's a level of feedback you get in valve amps when the speaker in the case makes the heating elements in the valves resonate. That must have some interesting electro-acoustical effects on the formation of plasma inside the valves. I am also thinking about the sorts of systems that cou...

Amy Sandoval has a three day course:  See  Do you want to finally be able to play with freedom and confidence? Well, I don't have any musical instruments, but I have a nice quality Apple USB keyboard, and I  thought maybe, if Apple's electronics are up to it, this keyboard will do n-key rollover and somebody has figured out a clever way to put piano keys onto it, so that I can use it with things like  https://www.tonegym.co/tool/item?id=scale-analyser  because I was learning about the line of fifths:  But I don't have a keyboard, and the tonegym doesn't have a keyboard interface, AFAICS. So I googled "usb midi keyboard hack 3d printed piano keys" and the first thing I got was this 2015 Hackaday prize piece:  https://hackaday.com/2015/07/12/3d-printed-modular-keyboard/  about this project:  https://hackaday.io/project/6737-modular-synthesizer-controller-keyboard-case . So that's the plastic, but there's no electronics, ... and how should the ...

Jean-Michel Jarre talking about Oxygene 7-13 in 1997: The mathematics behind this is  FM Synthesis : see  Amy Sandoval Interview With John Chowning . This reminds me of something I once read by Henri Atlan about "the articulation between levels" of a system. See  Uncommon Finalities  in William Irwin Thompson's book  Gaia: A Way of Knowing  (1987). ... in particular see this part: The  emergence of new scientific disciplines is where we (only partly consciously) make choices about what aspects of the phenomenological experience we abstract into language, and what we choose to ignore, and call noise. For example, very early on in the science of acoustics, which was physically the transmission of something we called sound , phenomenologically; the experience of hearing sound was described physically as a pressure wave in the ...
