I disagree. I thought we needed privacy to keep shit from going haywire. I mean, we need to be able to prevent crooks from getting into our bank accounts and using our E-mail addresses or the computer systems at our place of work to commit acts of terrorism. We need privacy in nuclear power plants so people don't shut them down or blow them up. We need privacy in our E-mail communications so that people don't publish stuff that we write but had no intention of publishing. We need privacy so that people don't tamper with what we write in order to destroy our reputation. I had plenty to say, and I said it and published it, but I did not argue for privacy on grounds of free speech, because it's contradictory.
