David MacQueen on The History of the Standard ML Programming Language

YouTube tells me I watched a few minutes of this once, but I have no recollection of that! Anyway it looks really good. David MacQueen designed the Standard ML Module System. See Jade on Time and Information.

This was uploaded in September 2015. He mentions sml-family.org which seems not to exist anymore, sadly, but see https://smlfamily.github.io/ for what looks like the essence of the thing. See also this ACM publication The History of Standard ML by Dave MacQueen, 2020. David MacQueen is still alive, a.f.a.i.k. https://people.cs.uchicago.edu/~dbm/. I got a bit worried listening to his closing remarks!

Subscribe to ICFP Videos. There are a lot of interesting talks on there.
