Nick Downey - Front Line Rhodesia


From the video description:

Here's one of the more famous flims [sic!] made during the Rhodesian Bush War.  Frontline Rhodesia following Rhodesian African Rifles Troopers as they conduct Fireforce Operations against Terrorist Insurgents amongst the Rhodesian Native African population in 1978. 
The short film was released in 1979.

In the video you can see phenomenal examples of Rhodesian Brushstroke camouflage, "Baby Poop" painted Rifles and the famous "instinctive shooting" you hear that the Rhodesians trained to do.

All in all a great view into one of the more obscure Cold War proxy conflicts.

I also just took this photo of Rafael Gonzales, born here in Tecate, B.C., who told me about a spring near here called Agua Fría , half way from Tecate to Loma Tova , where, a few decades ago, people used to go to have barbecues and stuff, but now he thinks it may be private land.
