The philosophical positions like pantheism and materialism with complexity can kind of merge and then it becomes hard to know what people mean by "the universe is a simulation" or "human reason is a necessary condition for us to be able to say anything meaningful about the world" in so far as when we talk about physical cause and effect we are talking about a kind of mechanism, but is that mechanism only in our descriptions of the world, i.e. is it a logical mechanism, or is it really out there in the shared reality we construct through reasoning about the world.

The "God is a computer" idea then starts to sound (to me) like a description of human reason. See Aristotle's definition of God in Metaphysics Book VII 11.12 in The Works of Aristotle:
