Hipgnosis Retrospective Exhibitiion - Aubrey Powell: "I really set a man on fire!"

 Dutch is a really beautiful language!

In het Groninger Museum is deze donderdag een grote overzichtstentoonstelling van de Londense ontwerpstudio Hipgnosis geopend.

De studio werd bekend dankzij legendarische albumcovers van onder meer Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, 10CC en Paul McCartney. Deze eerste grote overzichtstentoonstelling ter wereld is te zien tot 14 mei.

‘The Art of Hipgnosis’ neemt de bezoekers mee naar de tijd vóór de uitvinding van digitale fotografie en Photoshop. Het gaat om het ontwerp, het proces en de verhalen van enkele van de meest iconische albumcovers ooit gemaakt. De meest bekende is de prisma op de cover van ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ van Pink Floyd. Dat album viert op 3 maart zijn vijftigjarige jubileum.

Directeur Andreas Blühm van het Groninger Museum en Higpnosis-oprichter Aubrey Powell stelden de tentoonstelling samen. Alle foto’s en objecten van de expositie komen uit het privé-archief van Powell.

Interesting that they took that photo in Hollywood, I just assumed it was Pinewood studios, ... but I guess the light is better in Southern California so they flew to Los Angeles to take the photo, ...

I also just took this photo of Rafael Gonzales, born here in Tecate, B.C., who told me about a spring near here called Agua Fría , half way from Tecate to Loma Tova , where, a few decades ago, people used to go to have barbecues and stuff, but now he thinks it may be private land.
