Victoria on Being Kind to Yourself

She says you can't help others unless you learn to help yourself first. People were telling me that in Bolivia, and it used to annoy me a bit. It was because I didn't actually think I needed that much help myself, but it seemed very obvious that they needed more help than I was in a position to give, so all I wanted was enough help to be able to help them, and there they were saying to me "You have to help yourself first!".
