They seem to have cut the ear off one of them.  This is presumably somebody's idea of a deterrent, but this kind of behaviour by authorities does much more harm than good. It indicates at best that the state isn't in control of the criminal justice system, and that brings into question the whole government. In the US they try to cover this sort of thing up. Subscribe to UNHRC . 8:20 I think there is also circumstantial evidence that Israel is deliberately prolonging the conflict. This comes from the statistics showing that the majority of the dead and injured are women and children. Those statistics, provided by Hamas, cannot be verified by the UN however, because they have no access to Gaza. If they are correct though, then this shows that civilians were deliberately being targetted, and the combatants left to continue fighting, giving Israel an excuse to continue the bombardment.
