I feel bad for having been so harsh about the guy now. He sounds like he's been put through the wringer more than a few times.

I don't know much about Benzos, but I think we desperately need a natural stimulant which does not produce harmful side-effects or addiction, tolerance and dependence. So coffee and tobacco don't qualify. This would be a great help in treating withdrawal symptoms from other prescribed drugs, as well as heroin, cocaine, crack etc.

We have had such a thing that has been in use for thousands of years. It's coca. I can report personally that after twelve years of constant use it has produced, in me, no accumulated tolerance, dependency or addiction whatsoever, and no harmful side effects. Unfortunately a wrong-headed UN study concluded in 1957 or thereabouts that, as used traditionally for millenia, coca is exactly the same as cocaine and so, all over the world, coca leaves are classed as narcotics on a par with cocaine and heroin. That is very, very stupid!

A good start would be for cities to follow the example set by Oakland and Santa Cruz, CA and locally decriminalize natural entheogens, which would make proper scientific studies and development of treatment programmes possible.
