Kim Iversen on Kamala Harris's Press statement from Munich

Compare this approach of the US administration to that of Russia's: Vladimir Putin's Meeting With Permanent Members of The Security Council Yesterday. The difference is pretty striking. Harris apparently believes that diplomacy is a process of getting encouraging press reports. She completely ignores the fact that it is precisely this possibility of another war in Europe (the decade-long Balkan War in the nineties apparently doesn't count as such) which lies behind the Russian request to establish security guarantees. That was over two months ago and the Vice President of the United States of America still doesn't get it. Worse still, it seems that the regime in Kiev learned all they know about diplomacy from visiting American and British politicians and arms dealers.

The letter, written by Bathsheba Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, said, “I would like to bring to your attention disturbing information recently obtained by the United States that indicates that human rights violations and abuses in the aftermath of a further invasion are being planned.”

“These acts, which in past Russian operations have included targeted killings, kidnappings/forced disappearances, unjust detentions, and the use of torture, would likely target those who oppose Russian actions,” said the letter addressed to Michelle Bachelet, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights.

I suspect that the motivation behind this is the Russian intelligence concerning the Ukrainian nationalists responsible for the Odessa massacre, amongst other crimes. I also just took this photo of Rafael Gonzales, born here in Tecate, B.C., who told me about a spring near here called Agua Fría , half way from Tecate to Loma Tova , where, a few decades ago, people used to go to have barbecues and stuff, but now he thinks it may be private land.
